After some fine-tuning of the process, I am now able to backup my site, download the .tar file, and restore the site successfully.

There is, however, one concern I have. In the restored wp-config file, the MySQL settings display both my new *AND* old database name, database username, database password, and localhost:3307 info. Both the old and new credentials are listed side by side, separated by a parenthesis and a semicolon.

Should both sets of information be listed in the restored wp-config file? Won't this cause a problem later if I again need to backup and restore the site?

When restoring, XCloner comments out the old mysql details(so they are comments and not active php values), usually they do not cause any issues if you try to further restore the site, but if you like, you can remove those comments.
