Just wanted to let you know we have released a new version of XCloner 3.0, still in beta, however with it you should be able to create full backups even with the 2GB limitation in place, we have added a backup split option, so when a backup gets close to the limit you set, default 2048MB, it will automatically create a new backup file with a proper extension.

Feel free to test it, we would appreciate the input! Ovidiu

Thank you for the information Ovidiu. I certainly will try it, sounds like that split option might be the ticket!

I'll post back with the results.

Marcus

I have installed the new Beta version and I like the new functions. I actually now saw that my exec() function actually is disabled, that confirms my TAR problems previously.

Now, I've checked all the settings, the directorys are all green and "OK" but when I click "Generate backup" I get this error:

File not found

Firefox can't find the file at *ttp://marcusmodels.net/administrator/components/com_xcloner-backupandrestore/index2.php?option=com_cloner&task=confirm.

(NOTE: I removed the "H" in Http above because the forum creates a shortened link instead of the whole URL.)

I have checked the file path and there is a index2.php in the correct location, but I still get the error. Any ideas why? All the other pages in Xcloner work fine.

Thanks!

//Marcus

Hmm, i am guessing something is blocking the request, do you have any special htaccess code running there that might be blocking it?

Try setting the RewriteEngine to Off for the xcloner directory and see if it helps

Thanks for the response.

I don't have a htaccess file since this is a IIS webserver and not Apache, so I'm not able to set the RewriteEngine option. Should I switch to a Linux server? Laugh

I am guessing you did not have this issue with the previous version? Since the path is correct, the only valid explication is that the server somehow blocks that request, I am guessing restarting the IIS won't fix the issue? 🙂

No, I did not have this problem in the previous version.

Now this is interesting, I actually restarted IIS and after the restart when I click Generate Backup I land on the login page even though I'm logged in already. After logging in I end up on the start page "Welcome to Xcloner backend". If I click Generate Backup again I get the login page and it repeats again. I've tried logging in separately first, but I still get the login page when clicking "Generate backup". All of the other functions show up perfectly.

Now there's a loop for you! Cool

K, i think i know why this happens, in the administrator/components/com_xcloner-backup-and-restore/admin.cloner.html.php, on line 69 there is this code:

if(!in_array($_REQUEST['task'], $excl_tasks)){

try and replace it with

if(0){

this will disable the XCloner browser cache! Now, restart your browser or empty cache, and see if it helps! Ovidiu

As a note, i've updated the XCloner 3.0 version on our site to remove that cache, so you can try and download it, then replace the existing version on your site and see if it helps.
