OfflineHi. I'm trying to setup a development website. I created a backup of the site. On the server I created a direcory 'development'. I put the backup and restore files in this directory. I ran the XCloner.php script. All files were extracted (as fa as I could check) and the database was restored in a (different) database. The configuration.php file seems to be OK.
The was one error during the backup process:
TAR error: Error while opening {/var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs/development/administrator/components/com_chronoforms/form_actions/confirmation_page/cfaction_confirmation_page.php} in write binary mode
After the restore I get an internal server error (500) on both the frontend and backend. (mydomain.com/development).
I checked all file permissions. Files are on 644 and directories on 755.
I tried disabling the .htaccess file in the root and als in the administrator directoy (IP restricition), but that did not change anything.
I also tried a restore with the option 'Restore using server utilities (tar)'set to yes, but that did not work. Only the confoguration.php was restored, nothing else.
Some more details:
- Joomla 1.5.25
- XCloner-BackupandRestore 3.0.7
- PHP version 5.3.8
- MySQL 5.5.18
Any sugestions?
I realy need this to work, not just because of this development stup, but I use Xcloner for all my Joomla websites and I need to know a restore can be done one my server…
Thanks!

OfflineHi Ovidiu, thanks for your reply.
I use WinSCP on my server to acces my webserver. Whren I try to unpack the files from the backup I get an error message:
+++++++++++++++
Command 'tar -xz --directory="." -f "backup_2012-03-19_09-12_mydomain.com-sql-nodrop.tar"'
failed with return code 2 and error message
gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors.
+++++++++++++++
Any ideas or suggestions?
Jip.

OfflineI was able to extract the files with the command you provided. Thanks. I had to change the ownership/group of the files after doing this because I executed this as root.
After the file extraction I ran XCloner.php with the option marked to skip the file extraction. No errors.
Now I was able to see both frontend and backend of the website. So I guess this worked OK. Could you explain to me why this does work and not when using the Xcloner extraction? Thanks...
But I'm not there yet... Because I now am missing all images form the website. Including all backend images. I checjed the tar file and noticed that all image directories were missing form the file? Not only /images, but also for example /administrator/images, or administrator/componentns/com_xcloner-backupandrestore/images. And more...
This would mean the backup I made was not complete? Or did I do something wrong there?

OfflineHi Ovidiu,
In my cron settings I indicated (Excluded Directories) that the directory 'images' should be excluded. So that would explain the missing images directorties. But does this mean that ALL directories called 'images' are excluded? Not just the one under the Joomla root? How could I best specify directories to be excluded?

OfflineOK, thanks. I'll keep that in mind.
Could you possibly also answer my question in a previous post:
"Could you explain to me why this does work and not when using the Xcloner extraction? Thanks…"
Why does the untar process of the Xcloner script produce the server error? nd not when I untar it myself?
