There is nothing in the error_log, last entry is from 23-Jul-10.
The error comes up when I click on Components->.XCloner-Backup and Restore after installing the package.
Any ideas any one?
or do I have to look for another cloning module...I want to move my site from one server to another, this looked like the best module for it, but alas can't get it to work....
Could you attach a screenshot from your ftp client with the current permissions on these folders:
administrator/components
administrator/components/com_xcloner-backupandrestore
Again, they should be 755 and all the files inside the administrator/components/com_xcloner-backupandrestore set to 644
The 500 error is generated by your server as one of the permissions is incorrect when the browser tries to open http://yoursite.com/.....andrestore directory
Anyway, if you like, you can also open a support ticket and send us your site ftp details to fix the issue

Hi Tim, can you tell us what permissions you have on these directories
1. administrator/components
2. administrator/components/com_xcloner-backupandrestore
They should be 755 if you get that error! Also, try checking your site error log and tell us what is exact text you see there(usually last few lines) so we can help you further

They're currently 755. I've tried 777 as well.
Error log under /public_html/administrator:

Thanks
None of the errors there are related to XCloner, can you try and open Xcloner and right after you get the 500 error, check the error log
Can you post a screenshot here with the permissions set for the administrator/components folder and administrator/component/com_xcloner-backupandrestore as well as the files inside them?

Hi,
Good news is, somehow I've got it figured out. I set
1. administrator/components
2. administrator/components/com_xcloner-backupandrestore
..to 755, and all the files to 644 as you said, but I put the CSS, images, and javascript folders to 777. And it's working fine now. Really odd. Anyhow, thank you very much for your help.
