This situation gets ever more weird.
I checked in the zip file I downloaded XCloner3.4.zip, and sure enough the file TAR.php is in there, in the restore folder.
So I uploaded the zip file to the Joomla tmp directory, and expanded it there, ready to install from directory.
The expansion procedure listed the files it expanded, and the TAR.php was mentioned.
I then checked the tmp folder again, just to make sure, and the TAR.php wasn't there!
I then tried to ftp that file by itself into the tmp folder - and guess what? Immediately after a successful transfer, I refresh the screen and the TAR.php file has disappeared again!
So it seems that something on the server is deleting that file almost as soon as it is created. (Almost like an antivirus program would repeatedly delete a file that contained a virus.)
Help! Any suggestions? My host provider is netsons.com

I am on Netsons too.
I did the same thing: I aploaded the file via FTP and the server canceled it.
The same situation is with another extension: K2 in the media manager. There sre some files that the servers recognize as a potential hacker's ones and they delete them. The files deleted in K2 contain the "create symlink" code.
So, what I think, it is the problem of using in the extensions some files that are potentialy dangerous an as such are deleted automatically by the host server. This can concern also the TAR.php file.
Any solution for this? Just anybody...?

Yes, I did try to rename the TAR.php file and the TAR.php name whenever it apeared in other files, but not the "symlink" code inside the files. Bt the system stil is deleting that TAR, even renamed.
For the moment being I do not bother my host with this issue, because I'am having other problems to be resolved, but may be they would help in this matter.
Good night everyone.

Hi again.
Another strange situation. Ever since I sent my last posting, I have been trying to see if this forum has been updated, and I keep getting a blank screen and then timeout. I even tried to get just the home page of http://www.xcloner.com, but it too always timed out.
Today I had the idea that maybe it was to do with my IP address, so I tried connecting through a proxy-server, and I can immediately see this site and this forum again. But I don't understand why this site would want to block my IP address? Can anyone think of an explanation for this strange behaviour.
In the meantime, thankyou Marek for confirming that the hosting provider Netsons was the problem in this case.
(And I can add that on another site with Netsons I am using K2 with no apparent problems.)
Now it seems I must contact them to see if they can modify their behaviour.
In the meantime, Ovidiu, if you have any ideas on how or why my usual IP address was blocked from this site I would be glad to know the answer.
Bye for now,
Michael
