Ovidiu,
I removed the realpath() as you suggested from each of my 3 installations that were not working. I tested each as I made the change to see if there was a differerence. Each install worked flawlessly.
On the last install I forgot to create the administratorbackups directories. The great thing that happened, I got an error message on the Info tab, for the Temporary Folder, letting me know those folders were not available.
So the change allowed my install to work but it did not accept a path that was non-existent – that was impressive and exciting.
Now I can use XClone on all my installs and from what I can tell so far, it is working flawlessly.
Thank you so much Ovidiu for offering that fix.
And thank you Doris for your persistence. It has paid off for me!!!
Cheers to all of you and thank you again Ovidiu.
Ted
Glad to head this Ted, i will look more into the realpath issue to see what might have caused it! Is there any chance you could send me a ftp account to one of your site subfolders to make a few tests? If so, send me an email here http://www.xcloner.c.....m/contact/
Regards, Ovidiu

Thanks for the help!
It worked for me too, I used the editor in plugins menu to add // in front of the two lines of code, saved it, and now I can make backups!
However,
1-I can't get the backup to clone to the new site. I clicked on a backup, entered all the ftp info, clicked continue, and voila!
nope, not working, I get this:
Server Error
500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.
2-Backups keep getting smaller! Since I had to update wordpress and a couple of plugins, I made a new backup, but it is very small, only about 200 kb, as opposed to the backup I made last night which is 37MB.
3-I want to try the manual version of restore, but can't find the folder mentioned in the instructions here:
"Note: if this process fails for any reason, you need to do this:
1. Download the backup on your computer 2. Download the restore script, all files from directory administrator/components/com_xcloner-backupandrestore/restore/ 3. Upload both backup and restore script to your restore location 4. Launch XCloner.php in your browser and follow the restore screen as specified below"
The only folder in the /administrator folder is /backups, which is empty. This /administrator is in the root.
Awaiting further instructions...

Ok, after much fighting to understand how this process works, I still cannot get my backup restored!
This is what I get when I tried:
XCloner Automatic Restore! - friendnet.us |
Configuration updated!Unable to read the database backup file /home/gotwick/public_html/friendnet.us/administrator/backups/database-sql.sql , database was not imported! |
It gives a confirmation even though it did not work! and the link gives me, wait for it, .... my OLD site!
It would have been easier to just ftp download/upload the files and import a sql dump! Which is what I am ending up doing anyway...
or am I doing something wrong?
